The National Weather Service

The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather alert for the entire northeast.  A strong cold front from the north is meeting a coastal front from the south and is expected to stall over New England.  This will result in unseasonably cold temperatures for the next two days.   Temperatures tonight are expected to drop into single digits or below zero.   While no precipitation is expected, even short term exposure to these conditions could be dangerous.  With power outages across Connecticut, emergency personnel are advised to monitor for shelter activation work with local agencies and towns on shelter communications requirements.
